"As a senior partner in Master Pools Alta. Ltd. I have the privilege of directing the company’s corporate citizenship. Part of that citizenship is financial support of charitable organizations the partners view as being effectively involved in social issues close to our hearts.

 

CASA fits both criteria of being effective and involved in a social issue close to my heart. My empathy for young people and their families struggling to become more productive in our society stems from my younger years spent in a dysfunctional family where I was subjected to sexual, mental and physical abuse. My struggle to overcome the restrictions of my family environment was occasionally helped by a sympathetic teacher (there was no CASA in those days).

 

Today I understand the need to bridge the ever widening chasm between young people struggling and societal expectations which may be outside their reach within their current environment. I believe bridges such as CASA give hope and a certain amount of security to its’ clients as they transition from their struggles to a world of endless opportunities. I feel privileged and honored to be able to support CASA in their epic endeavor to have a positive impact on a sector of society which is sorely underfunded by public resources – those facing mental health challenges. In the words of anthropologist, Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has”.
